Talent Acquisition Specialist

Job Overview: Our client in the Iowa City area, is seeking to add a new Talent Acquisition Specialist to their team. The Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for full-cycle recruitment as well as oversight and administration of the Applicant Tracking System. To be successful in the role of Talent Acquisition Specialist, you must have demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills.


This is a Direct Hire role. This person reports to the VP of People & Culture.

What you will be doing as a Talent Acquisition Specialist…

  • Coordinates full-cycle recruiting processes
  • Works with hiring managers to clearly define and obtain position requirements to create job requisitions and job postings, both internally and externally
  • Creates and implements marketing strategies to attract active and passive job seekers, attends career fairs, partners with school and colleges, etc.
  • Develops and manages ongoing creative and cost-effective sourcing strategies
  • Determines and evaluates applicant qualifications through interviewing, completing reference checks, administering personality assessments
  • Provide feedback to hiring managers regarding applicants, arrange interviews by coordinating schedules, and arranging travel as needed
  • Coordinates offers of employment, pre-employment physicals, background checks, drug screens, etc.
  • Coordinates relocation efforts if needed
  • Coordinates onboarding and offboarding activities to include new hire orientations and training
  • Serves as the main point of contact and administrator for the Applicant Tracking System
  • Develops weekly recruitment activity reports for management and distributes weekly departmental recruiting KPIs
  • Achieves financial objectives by managing expenditures related to recruiting and staffing

Skills you ideally bring to the table as a Talent Acquisition Specialist…
  • Associate's degree in Human Resources Administration or similar required, Bachelor's degree and/or PHR certification is strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of full-cycle recruiting experience
  • Proficient in Applicant Tracking Systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong knowledge of human resources practices and compliance
  • Experience developing and executing recruiting marketing and branding strategies
  • Advanced knowledge of effective hiring platforms that attract suitable candidates
  • Ability to work in a continuously changing environment
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload
  • Creative thinking and proactive problem solver
