Senior Revenue Cycle Business Analyst

Position Summary

The Senior Revenue Cycle Business Analyst is responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining standard reports and dashboards that support business operations and decision-making across revenue cycle functions. This role focuses on analyzing data to improve performance, drive accountability, and support leadership with actionable insights.

The position works closely with project teams, business leaders, and stakeholders to identify reporting needs, define analytical requirements, locate relevant data sources, develop financial and operational models, and present findings to senior leadership. This role also supports strategic initiatives through predictive and prescriptive analytics related to denials management, accounts receivable optimization, and cash forecasting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and deploy reports and dashboards based on documented business requirements
  • Collaborate with Business Systems Analysts and key stakeholders to ensure reporting specifications are accurate and complete
  • Analyze and integrate data from multiple sources, including hospital billing, professional billing, budget systems, cost accounting, and general ledger systems
  • Lead and support special projects requiring research, analysis, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Build and maintain standardized, certified datasets used as centralized sources for Revenue Cycle KPI reporting
  • Apply predictive analytics to prioritize work queues and improve operational efficiency
  • Develop root cause analysis frameworks to identify performance improvement opportunities
  • Support denials management, AR optimization, and cash forecasting through data-driven insights
  • Foster collaboration across teams and stakeholders to align strategies and operational goals
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and innovation to modernize analytics and reporting processes using industry-standard technologies
  • Present key findings, assumptions, and recommendations clearly to senior leadership for strategic decision-making
  • Support organizational standards, operational excellence, and customer service expectations
  • Take ownership of special projects and perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Health Informatics, Finance, Business, Public Health, or a related field
  • Master’s degree preferred in Health Informatics, Business, Public Health, or a related discipline
  • Epic Revenue Data Model (Clarity) Certification required
  • 3+ years of experience in managed healthcare, insurance operations, or revenue cycle operations
  • Strong understanding of hospital billing and professional billing data
  • Advanced experience with SQL, Tableau, Crystal Reports, and Excel
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, data modeling, and OLAP technologies

  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, and other reporting and analytical tools
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Adaptable and responsive to organizational change with a change-agent mindset
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills with a willingness to learn and grow
  • Ability to connect business processes, operational drivers, and cross-functional impacts
  • Effective presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
