Open Position: Senior Flight Controls Software Engineer (Contract to Hire)

Opportunity Snapshot: We are on the hunt for a seasoned Embedded Software Engineer to augment our client's team. This pivotal role involves crafting and refining safety-critical software within a fault-tolerant flight control system.

Your Mission:

  • Engineer robust safety-critical software for advanced flight control systems.
  • Engage in comprehensive project management, including planning, design, scheduling, and monitoring progress.
  • Break down complex system requirements into actionable software tasks, aligning with DO-178C standards.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team to fuse intricate hardware with software elements for flight control systems.
  • Innovate software planning, processes, and guidelines for optimal safety and efficiency.
  • Drive software design and development, balancing performance, risk, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct thorough software analysis, ensuring rigorous requirements-based testing and structural coverage.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • 5+ years of experience in flight control software or similar domains.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant field.
  • Mastery of C/C++ programming languages.
  • Skillful use of MATLAB/Simulink and proficiency in scripting languages like Bash and Python.
  • Experience in adhering to stringent safety standards such as DO-178C or ISO 26262 to high criticality levels.
  • A solid grasp of communication protocols and standards.
  • Practical knowledge of debugging tools and lab instruments.
  • Expertise in Model Based Software development and certification (DO-331).

Advantageous Attributes:

  • Experience with VHDL and/or Verilog.
  • Proficiency in UML or SysML modeling tools.
  • Knowledge of RTOS and multi-threading.
  • Linux system experience.
  • Familiarity with DO-254 and tool qualification (DO-330).
