Safety & Compliance Manager

Job Overview: The Safety and Compliance Manager will collaborate as a key member of a comprehensive safety team, fostering a cooperative relationship between the company and contractors while ensuring compliance with federal and state safety regulations. This role involves overseeing two Safety Administrators at our terminal location in Pomona, CA, requiring on-site presence rather than remote work.

This is a Direct Hire role.

• Serve as a liaison for the vehicle maintenance program, overseeing the initiation and continuous training of VM drivers, conducting pre-and-post trip observations, and facilitating 90-day inspection driver communications.
• Manage HOS compliance programs, including initial and ongoing ELD driver training, communication of administrative needs to drivers, and facilitation of HOS policy and procedure training.
• Implement and oversee the accident/incident program, providing initial and ongoing driver training, being on-call 24/7 for accidents/incidents, and conducting real-time collaboration with drivers during incidents.
• Coordinate the speeding/dangerous driving program, including training sessions, real-time intervention for speed infractions, and facilitating corrective action/business discussions.
• Act as a liaison for injury investigations, conducting observations of company and contract drivers at terminals, yards, and customer locations.
• Facilitate company and contract driver meetings, serving as an administrator and presenter as needed.
• Be available for on-call 24/7 emergency response and documentation.
• Travel up to 50% within designated states as requested (primarily West Coast).

• Effectively communicate safety and compliance goals/programs to both company and contract drivers
• Stay focused on safety/compliance goals directed by the Director of Safety and Compliance 
• Demonstrate the ability to work seamlessly within a team
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Valid CDL A with a current medical card preferred
• Clean motor vehicle record (MVR)
• Minimum 5 years as a CDL operator preferred
• Minimum 3 years of safety management
• Minimum 3 years of management experience with safety personnel, demonstrating the ability to oversee staff on a daily basis
• Fluent in Spanish (required)
