JOB TITLE: Press Operator                          

REPORTS TO: Area Shift Leader

Summary of Responsibilities

To support manufacturing by safely and efficiently performing assigned tasks and work to achieve safety, quality, productivity and housekeeping goals.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Follow plant safety rules and procedures; use safe work habits for assigned position, including wearing specified personal protective equipment

  • Ensure quality of all parts produced in assigned work area
  • Attain safety, quality, productivity and housekeeping goals
  • Learn all aspects of all parts produced in assigned work area, including critical quality factors, customer needs and acceptable standards
  • Set up, operate and perform adjustments on all equipment in assigned area
  • Check all settings and pressures and document discrepancies in white book
  • Operate presses and auxiliary equipment as required
  • Use appropriate measuring equipment
  • Complete documentation and reports as required
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Communicate effectively with previous/next shift associates for carry-over of information
  • Use computer and software as directed
  • Attend training as required
  • Encourage safety and housekeeping practices and lead by example
  • Read, follow and become familiar with all details and instructions in white operations books
  • Promote and facilitate Open Door process, effective communication and Fair Treatment
  • Participate in Continual Improvement activities
  • Adhere to customer requirements, Business Operating System and company policies

Qualifications

  • Able to work well with others in a team environment; build maintain positive employee relations
  • Able to prepare, read and interpret written reports, instructions, procedures and guidelines
  • Able to use various inspection fixtures and gauges
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees, suppliers and customers
  • Able to work flexible hours and overtime
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts, such as percentages and proportions
  • Able to use computer and software as required
  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds

 

Education / Experience and Required Training

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
  • Prefer some mechanical skills (LO/TO, Crane, CMS)

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing plant floor, characterized by temperature extremes, loud noise and considerable tow motor traffic
