Systems Engineer - Multiple Positions for Junior to Senior Lead roles.
Job Description Summary
The Systems Engineer is responsible for functional, business, and broad organizational objectives. In this role, you will leverage Ethernet-based Networking Technology experience to help our client develop and manage technical objectives for multiple aircraft platforms.
Systems engineering is a cross-functional discipline that integrates business and technical needs to deliver high-quality products that meet user requirements. This role involves executing a structured process for designing, creating, and optimizing systems, including defining system requirements, developing alternative designs, conducting trade studies, selecting and implementing the best solutions, and ensuring proper integration and execution from concept to production and operation.
This role impacts departmental operations and requires planning and execution skills. While some autonomy is provided, the focus remains on the technical execution of both team and individual assignments within established design procedures, practices, and plans. Strong judgment and leadership abilities are essential.
Job Description
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for leading, guiding, and/or contributing to the systems engineering efforts across our client’s Networking Products and Common Computing Platform. The role is accountable for assigned systems engineering tasks within the Networking Products product line and provides technical leadership, coaching, and support to project teams to ensure excellence in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
Key responsibilities include:
•Managing the Systems Engineering Lifecycle for Networking Products, Common Computing, and End System platforms.
•Developing and executing systems development and verification plans in accordance with our client’s engineering processes.
•Assisting Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Business Leaders in new business pursuits.
•Conducting architecture development and trade studies to meet customer requirements.
•Training Systems Engineers in systems engineering methodologies and best practices.
•Driving and supporting engineering reuse within the Networking Products product line.
•Providing technical leadership to teams managing product line projects, including project planning, reviews, metrics development/tracking, forecasting, development processes, and risk/opportunity management.
•Ensuring timely delivery of system requirements, integrated validation/verification activities, and issue resolution.
•Supporting the startup of new projects, ensuring alignment with the product roadmap, overall product line strategy, and engineering process requirements.
•Leading interdisciplinary collaboration with software, hardware, test, safety, maintainability, reliability, and certification teams.
•Escalating issues requiring additional engineering or business leadership intervention in a timely manner.
Qualifications & Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer Science, or a related field).
• 5+ years of experience in design & development and/or technical project leadership within an engineering product development environment.
•Background in Avionics Systems Engineering Processes such as ARP4754A, ARP4761, or similar standards.
•Due to U.S. Government contract restrictions, this role is open only to U.S. Citizens. Proof of citizenship will be required before employment.
Desired Characteristics:
• Experience managing or designing within an Avionics Design Assurance Level A or B environment.
•Familiarity with DO-297, DO-178, DO-254, and/or DO-330 process assurance standards.
• Knowledge of networking products or Network Interoperability Specifications.
• Familiarity with interfaces such as Ethernet, TSN Ethernet, analog, discrete, RS-232/422/485, ARINC 429/664/825.
• Experience with engineering processes including requirements definition, allocation, validation, verification, integration, embedded software, electronic systems, FAA/EASA/NAA certification, and system safety.
•Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership inside and outside the organization.
•Proven ability in system development, integration, validation, and verification.
•Strong oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities.
• Demonstrated experience in problem-solving, program/project leadership, documentation, planning, and execution.
