Position: RFIC Layout Designer – Modem ASIC Team (Contract)

Location: San Jose, CA

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced RFIC Layout Designer to join our Modem ASIC team. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with RFIC designers to layout and verify custom RF and analog IP for advanced SoC products on cutting-edge CMOS technologies. This position offers the opportunity to work on next-generation wireless technology in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed transistor-level layout of complex RF and analog circuit blocks, including:

   

  • LNA, mixers, PLL, LO generation, modulators, power amplifiers, ADC/DAC, baseband filters, bandgap references, and LDOs.

• Layout of sensitive analog components (resistors, capacitors, inductors).

• Execute block-level and top-level layout through full verification flows: RLC extraction, DRC, LVS, and DFM checks.

• Collaborate with designers on block and top-level floor planning.

• Conduct layout reviews focused on:

   

  • Power/ground routing, electromigration, signal path integrity, differential/IQ matching, and minimizing signal coupling.

• Integrate and verify top-level layouts while managing project schedules.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in custom RF/analog layout on deep sub-micron CMOS (28nm, FinFET, etc.).

• Strong expertise in layout techniques for device matching, parasitic reduction, RF shielding, and high-frequency signal routing.

• Proven ability to identify and resolve layout and circuit structure challenges collaboratively with design engineers.

• High proficiency with CALIBRE verification tools (DRC, ERC, LVS, etc.).

• Experienced with CADENCE layout tools and Mentor Graphics verification flows.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to work across cross-functional teams.
