Job Title: Senior Industrial Engineer

Overview:
The Senior Industrial Engineer is responsible for identifying the causes of technical manufacturing challenges and developing effective solutions to improve production processes. This role focuses on researching, developing, and implementing process improvements, tools, equipment, and systems designed to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness across operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, source, and cost-justify tools, machinery, and equipment to optimize manufacturing methods.

  • Manage the implementation of new equipment or technologies, ensuring successful integration and proper training for team members.

  • Conduct detailed product and process analyses, including data collection, measurement, and interpretation to drive cost reduction, quality, safety, and efficiency improvements.

  • Recommend methods to improve utilization of personnel, materials, facilities, and utilities.

  • Support new product development and ensure smooth transitions from prototype to production.
  • Stay current on advancements in sheet metal processing, manufacturing methods, and emerging technologies to identify practical applications.
  • Evaluate part designs and manufacturing approaches based on efficiency, cost, and feasibility.

  • Develop and document standard processes, methods, tooling, and production controls for new and existing programs.

  • Collaborate with vendors, internal teams, and management to review product specifications, project progress, and purchasing needs.

  • Research, design, and improve production flow, assembly methods, and facility layouts.

  • Redesign, repair, or replace production equipment, tooling, and hardware as needed.

  • Maintain consistent attendance and reliability, recognizing the impact on production and team performance.

  • Complete projects on or ahead of schedule while following through on commitments.

  • Remain responsive and cooperative with team members and leadership, offering support as a technical resource.

  • Adhere to all safety procedures, policies, and best practices.

Promote a culture of accountability and proactively address safety concerns in the workplace.

Requirements

Qualifications and Essential Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Agricultural Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

  • Minimum of three years of experience analyzing and implementing continuous improvements in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with machine software such as laser cut programming or press brake systems.

  • Hands-on experience with production equipment and an understanding of equipment capabilities preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration across all organizational levels and with suppliers or customers.

  • Experience with low- to medium-volume tooling and fixture design, implementation, and maintenance.

  • Familiarity with inspection methods and strong troubleshooting abilities.

  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) within a manufacturing setting.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and document processes, procedures, and production standards.

  • Solid understanding of fixture fundamentals and GD&T principles.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Visio); experience with ERP and reporting programs required.

  • Ability to balance production and engineering needs while maintaining a focus on overall organizational goals.

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and driven to continuous improvement.

  • Able to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong accountability and results orientation.


Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit and use computer systems for extended periods while maintaining focus.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires regular talking, hearing, and visual acuity (close, distance, and adjustable focus).
