Instrument Reliability Engineer
Job Overview: Instrument Reliability Engineer responsibilities will include support and ownership of site-wide instrument integrity, reliability, and overall instrument health through the evaluation and application of best practices.
This is a Direct Hire role with full benefits.
What you will be doing as a Instrument Reliability Engineer

Lead the site instruments' mechanical integrity programs.

Provide tactical and strategic engineering support to operations, turnaround, maintenance, and project groups with run-plant and improve-plant activities.

Upgrade instrumentation, sensors, and valves using smart monitoring tools and technology.

Engineer a wide range of instruments, and systems such as controls, PLC, DCS, analyzers,
transducers, and wireless applications (Flow, Pressure, Temperature, Valves)

Develop strategies and implement maintenance plans for Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Instrumentation and Control Systems.

Develop economical and technical justifications to support capital projects with equipment replacements and reliability improvements.

Support management of the change process as well as develop technical documentation and process safety information design changes, technical specifications, calibrations, alarm settings, & interlock procedure.

Work with project managers, design contractors, and vendors to develop scopes of work and detailed engineering designs for repairs and improvement projects.

Mentor new engineers and electricians in reliability tools and best practices including RAGAGEP.

Facilitate the diagnosis and resolution of chronic causes of instrument failures and implement corrective action using effective diagnostic tools and root cause analysis.

Provide guidance and input to establish minimum expectations for inspection and QA/QC activities in the procurement packages and commissioning of instrument equipment.

Participate in site capital project specifications, drawings, and safety reviews as well as shop inspections and other project document reviews.

Track progress in reliability performance and publish metrics on asset reliability to facilitate
comprehensive site infrastructure reliability.
Skills you ideally bring to the table as a Instrument Reliability Engineer
-
Electrical Engineer Degree and 10 years work experience as Instrument and Control Systems engineer in a petrochemical, Refining or PSM covered facility.

Knowledge with critical Instrument and Control Systems Troubleshooting
-
Knowledge of facility/process design in engineering and PSM standards
-
Experience with engineering software
-
Experience applying statistical tools to identify "Bad Actor" equipment (i.e.: Reliability Modeling, Root Cause Analysis, RCA)

Working knowledge of compliance and engineering standards (NEC, NFPA, API, OSHA, ISA, ANSI,
EPA, and other RAGAGEPs)

Demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives, troubleshooting and projects
