Environmental Engineer
This role entails overseeing and coordinating the permitting, monitoring, testing, and reporting of air emissions, water discharges, and waste disposal at a corn wet milling facility. This role includes the responsibility of maintaining and updating various environmental programs, including the Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plan, Risk Management Plan (RMP), Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, Tier II reporting (SARA311/312), and Continuous Emission Monitoring (CEMs) for the Muscatine facility.
This is a Direct Hire role.
What you will be doing as a Environmental Engineer
- Draft essential air permits and define regulatory reporting prerequisites.
- Assemble and submit mandatory Title V documentation, ensuring diligent compliance tracking, and managing permit updates and renewals.
- Create the annual emission inventory and semi-annual/annual compliance certification for Title V.
- Offer assistance or consultation for plant engineering projects related to air quality.
- Conduct dispersion modeling for permits and compliance assessments.
- Serve as the company's liaison for air quality inspections conducted by IDNR and address regulatory inquiries proactively.
- Develop essential air permits and define regulatory reporting prerequisites.
- Organize and submit obligatory Title V documentation, oversee compliance monitoring, and manage permit updates and renewals.
- Create the annual emission inventory and semi-annual/annual compliance certification for Title V.
- Provide support or expert consultation on plant engineering projects related to air quality.
- Conduct dispersion modeling for permitting or compliance purposes.
- Serve as the company's liaison during air quality inspections conducted by IDNR, and address regulatory inquiries in a timely manner.
Education:
- Possess a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or possess equivalent experience.
Experience:
- Acquire a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in roles related to environmental engineering or environmentally focused positions.
- Preferred experience within an industrial setting.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrate a strong grasp of federal and state regulations pertaining to air, water, stormwater, and waste issues relevant to the operation of a corn wet milling facility.- Essential computer skills include proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Showcase strong communication, interpersonal, mathematical, problem-solving skills, and the capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Additional experience in air permitting, monitoring, reporting, stack testing, and dispersion modeling is advantageous.
- Experience with NPDES and stormwater permitting, monitoring, and reporting is beneficial. Knowledge of the operation of anaerobic and aerobic wastewater systems is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in working with RCRA, SPCC, SWPPP, RMP, SARA, GHGs, and TRI regulations.
