Position: RF/HW Test Engineer (San Jose, CA)
Job Overview:
The GNSS SoC Location Group is seeking a highly skilled RF/HW Test Engineer on a contract basis to support time-sensitive RF and hardware platform testing across early prototypes and production form factors. This role focuses on hands-on hardware validation in a laboratory environment and requires an engineer who can work independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams and global time zones. The ideal candidate brings strong experience testing mobile device prototypes in fast-paced environments.
This is a contract role and is not eligible for C2C or W2 referral candidates.
What you will be doing as a RF/HW Test Engineer…
• Support new hardware and board bring-up activities, including execution and debugging of hardware validation tests
• Isolate and identify root causes of hardware and schematic-related issues; collaborate closely with RF, software, and test/tools teams
• Perform power measurement testing on hardware boards, including programming and monitoring power rails through schematic inspection
• Analyze test data, generate reports, and clearly document findings and issues
• Write and maintain scripts to automate test suites and accelerate test and debug cycles
• Manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines while adapting to a dynamic, fast-paced development environment
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures to ensure product integrity, safety, and quality
• Provide on-call and after-hours support as required to meet project timelines
• 2+ years of hands-on laboratory experience testing mobile devices
• Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, NI power instruments, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and vector/network analyzers
• Familiarity with RF measurements including P1dB, IIP, noise figure (NF), and S-parameters
• Basic understanding of RF receiver architecture and system blocks
• Ability to read and interpret hardware schematics and PCB layouts
• Proficiency or working knowledge of Python for test automation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to support evening or on-call requests as needed
