Job Title: Product Security Engineer
Location: St. Louis, MO (100% Onsite)
Clearance Required: Active Secret Security Clearance
Citizenship: U.S. Citizen Only
Note: This is not an IT cybersecurity role. This position focuses on embedded product cybersecurity.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior-Level or SME Product Security Engineer to lead the cybersecurity efforts across the full lifecycle of development, manufacturing, and production for embedded systems in weapons programs (e.g., guided bombs, missiles). The ideal candidate will be experienced in decomposing high-level DoD cybersecurity requirements into actionable system-level specifications for various defense products.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead cybersecurity aspects of embedded weapons systems through design, development, testing, and production.
Translate DoD high-level cybersecurity directives into product-specific requirements.
Design and monitor cybersecurity protocols during manufacturing, supply chain, and logistics to military bases.
Support system integration, V&V, and test efforts for intelligent armament programs.
Conduct threat modeling, cyber risk assessments, and develop mitigation strategies.
Participate in cyber test activities and evaluations during major engineering events.
Required Qualifications:
Degree in Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
Active Secret clearance.
Must hold an IAT Level I (e.g., A+, Network+, SSCP) or IAM Level II (e.g., CAP, GISF, GSLC, Security+) certification.
Experience in:
Secure boot and firmware updates
Cryptographic HW/SW integrity
Real-time OS security
RMF (Risk Management Framework) per NIST and DoD standards
Threat modeling and lifecycle cybersecurity integration
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with standards: NIST 800-series (e.g., 53, 171), DOD 8570, DFARS 252.204-7012, COMSEC, CNSSI 1253, TEMPEST.
Hands-on experience with:
Pen testing and threat assessments (CTT, CVA, Adversarial Assessments)
Engineering reviews (PDR/CDR), CONOPS, use case and requirements development
HW/SW design, unit testing, system integration, and fielding
Model-based systems engineering, requirements management, and operational concept development
