Electrical Layout Engineer - Contract

U.S. Citizenship Required – ITAR Compliance

Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Layout Engineer to support high-performance electronic design efforts for advanced systems used in defense and ruggedized computing environments. This is a contract-based opportunity, ideal for self-starters who are passionate about PCB and high-speed digital layout and who thrive in collaborative engineering environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead PCB and high-speed digital layout design efforts for complex systems such as switch panels, battery storage units, motherboards, and custom compute boards.

• Develop detailed schematics and board layouts using computer-aided design tools, ensuring signal integrity, manufacturability, and thermal efficiency.

• Optimize component placement, trace routing, and power distribution across PCBs and backplanes.

• Ensure designs comply with customer requirements, industry standards, and applicable specifications.

• Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.

• Participate in design reviews and support testing/validation of layouts.

Qualifications:

• Education: BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (strongly preferred).

• Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in electrical layout design, including high-speed digital systems and printed circuit board design.

• Software Skills: Proficiency in industry-standard PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence OrCAD). Candidates with their own licensed PCB design software are strongly preferred.

• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical components, signal integrity, power delivery, and design optimization.
