About the Role
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with expertise in Substation and Transformer Engineering to join our team. The ideal candidate will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), effectively collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining electrical systems that power our client’s automated machines and systems.
Key Responsibilities
•Substation & Transformer Engineering – Improve power efficiency and reliability, focusing on high-voltage to medium-voltage systems.
•Power Distribution – Conduct load calculations for 480VAC systems to ensure proper distribution.
•Safety & Compliance – Apply a basic understanding of Arc Flash ratings and calculations to maintain industry safety standards.
• Electrical Design – Create wiring diagrams, circuit breaker configurations, and other essential electrical components.
•Control Systems Support – Provide Allen Bradley control system hardware architecture knowledge for obsolescence upgrades.
•AutoCAD Modifications – Update existing AutoCAD prints and create new designs as needed.
•Technical Documentation – Read and interpret electrical drawings accurately.
Required Technical Skills
•Substation Load Management – Monitor and adjust substation load balance requirements in alignment with evolving needs.
• Automation Principles – Understand machine control, sensor technology, and data acquisition.
• Allen Bradley PLC Control Systems – Skilled in Allen Bradley PLCs and related automation systems.
•AutoCAD Proficiency – Ability to create and modify electrical schematics.
Additional Valuable Skills
• Network Topologies – Knowledge of VLANs, firewalls, and servers.
• Network Protocols – Understanding of EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, DH+, and RIO.
Qualifications
•Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or a related discipline, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: Minimum 3+ years in power system design, power conversion, power distribution, sub-system design, or control systems.
• Work Environment: Must be able to perform daily tasks on-site.
•Travel: Ability to travel within the assigned territory and occasionally for company, customer, and supplier events.
•Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
