Director of Business Development

Job Overview: Our Cedar Rapids, IA client, in the transportation industry, is seeking to add a NEW Director of Business Development to their team. The Director of Business Development is responsible for overseeing and performing duties related to new business development and maintaining existing relationships. To be successful in the role of  Director of Business Development, you must have excellent interpersonal skills, be a critical thinker, and show proven judgment and decision making skills.


This is a Direct Hire role.

What you will be doing as a Director of Business Development…

  • Strong reasoning and sound judgement in decision making
  • Ability effectively investigate
  • Strong reasoning and sound judgement in decision making
  • Build and maintain prospective client base within a territory according to sales goals
  • Strong customer interaction skills leading negotiations and managing long term relationships
  • Appropriately align with marketing team regarding customer distributions and pricing strategies
  • Ability to identify profitable business opportunities in both truckload and brokerage
  • Collaborates with Supervisors regarding target markets ensuring opportunities align with sales strategy
  • Oversees internal sales and customer service teams building internal relationships and support long and short term goals
Skills you ideally bring to the table as a Director of Business Development…
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, Highschool diploma and industry experience required
  • Industry experience within a sales role minimum of 5 years
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Experienced in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Transportation software experience preferred
  • Ability to travel as needed
