Data Engineer
Location: Champaign, IL
Job Type: Direct Hire
This is an onsite position based out of Champaign, IL, ideally targeting $125-135k/base (negotiable based on experience).
About the Opportunity
Saige Partners is seeking a talented Data Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team focused on building modern data platforms that power advanced analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence solutions. What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines that integrate data from a variety of internal and external sources.
- Build and maintain robust data platforms that support advanced analytics, reporting, and predictive modeling initiatives.
- Develop, test, troubleshoot, and enhance data products to meet evolving business and client needs.
- Monitor system performance and ensure high levels of data quality, integrity, and availability.
- Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, consultants, and business stakeholders to improve data accessibility and usability.
- Implement modern software engineering best practices including automated testing, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Continuously evaluate new tools and technologies to improve platform performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Help deliver innovative, data-driven solutions that create measurable business value for clients.
Qualifications
- 3 6 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a related data engineering role.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline.
- Strong experience designing and building scalable, data-intensive applications and pipelines.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience developing efficient, maintainable code for large datasets.
- Experience with distributed data processing technologies such as Apache Spark and/or Databricks.
- Experience working with cloud platforms including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
- Knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a focus on improving data reliability and quality.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous learning.
- Experience in financial services, consulting, or risk management is a plus.
