Body Shop Manager

Job Overview: Our client, a leading provider of high-quality products and services for heavy equipment users is adding a Body Shop Manager to their team. The Body Shop Manager will be responsible to lead the operations of the Body Shop department. This role involves overseeing the department’s technicians, ensuring efficient and profitable operations, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and manage strategic goals and operational objectives for the Body Shop.
  • Establish and meet profit targets for the department, ensuring operational success.
  • Foster communication and collaboration between the Body Shop and other departments.
  • Liaise with vendors to manage product and warranty issues.
  • Ensure the upkeep and maintenance of the facility, adhering to budget guidelines.
  • Report problems and concerns to senior leadership.
  • Oversee financial and operational goals as part of the company’s annual business planning process.
  • Prepare and review operating and capital budgets, making corrective actions when necessary.
  • Provide performance data and market trends to Senior Leadership.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key vendors and insurance companies.
  • Manage customer relations and mediate solutions to any issues.
  • Ensure compliance with warranty procedures and timely vendor credit collection.
  • Handle employee recruitment, performance evaluations, and staff training.
  • Ensure proper acquisition of tools and equipment for the Body Shop.
  • Promote safety, policy compliance, and maintain cleanliness within the department and facility.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the heavy-duty truck service industry or a related field, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong management skills, including the ability to develop strategic plans, make decisions, and implement programs.
  • Excellent product knowledge and the ability to share this with customers and staff.
  • Ability to motivate and train staff to meet departmental goals.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong mathematical and basic computer skills.
  • Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent (GED), certifications from OEMs in the trucking industry, and at least 2 years of technical school with 3-5 years of industry and management experience.
