Applications Engineer

Job Overview: Our Englewood client is seeking to add a NEW Applications Engineer to their team.  The Applications Engineer prepares detailed proposals for complex automation equipment and supports the Sales team to present the concepts to customers. 

 

This is a Direct Hire role.

What you will be doing as a Applications Engineer…
• Work with the Key Account Manager and Application Engineering Manager on all aspects of the process.
• Review the customer specifications, drawings and products to develop an assembly machine concept based on our standard assembly platforms. Provide our customers with product design support to improve the assembly process.
• Determine customer requirements and sales strategy with KAM and AEM.
• Develop:
   o Automated assembly concepts
   o AutoCAD 2D layouts and Inventor 3D models
   o Sub-systems specifications and costings through direct contact with suppliers
   o Detailed project cost estimates as the basis for the sales price
• Write quotations and present your solution to our customers as part of the Sales team.
• Make sales calls with the Key Account Managers to provide automation technical support in their consulting and selling efforts with customers, with the purpose to significantly increase probability of closing orders.

Skills you ideally bring to the table as a Applications Engineer…
• BS Engineering.
• 5+ years experience in Engineering or Applications Engineering in the machine building industry.
• Ability to travel 75% of time.
• Ability to create and present a project specific presentation.
• Technical writing skills.
• Computer skills including basic Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Project) and advanced Excel spreadsheet experience.
• Experienced in the use of a database system for tracking customers and opportunities.
